2026 Nerd Herd

A year ago, we explained why The Nerd Herd captures the heart of ThrottleNet’s culture. The 2026 edition backed that up once again, and it threw in a couple of surprises along the way.

Across two sunny days, our team swapped laptops for drivers, rooted for one another, and battled through a title race tight enough that someone had to break out a calculator. Call it another headline chapter in ThrottleNet’s “Premium Live Event.”

Let’s walk through the highlights.

Wednesday: Kelsey B. Comes Out Swinging

Our signature putting challenge kicked off the action Wednesday morning, and Kelsey B. claimed the opening win right away by leaving her ball nearest the pin.

That was only the start. She went on to capture the Women’s Longest Drive as well, sweeping both of her events. Someone may need to remind her that sharing is caring.

On the men’s side, Adam V. took the Longest Drive. He then teamed with Todd B. to card a stellar 81 and claim the Day One team crown. An individual prize and a team title on the same afternoon? We’ll call that a productive workday.

Runner-up honors went to Matt T. and Sam N. This was Sam N.’s debut at the Nerd Herd, and he proved that rookies can hang with the veterans.

Best of all, play moved quickly from start to finish, sparing everyone the notorious five-hour slog.

Thursday: When the Math Crowned a Champion

Drama arrived early on Thursday. Chris G. stepped up for the morning’s opening putt and left it roughly 18 inches from the pin, a mark that would take home the prize on most days.

John S. wasn’t about to let that stand. Lining up from well back, he rolled one to within 12 inches of the cup and snatched the putting title by the slimmest of margins.

The sunshine held for a second day as teams headed out for the final round. When the cards were tallied, two teams sat level at the top: John B. and Chris G. posted a 75, and Joshua W. and Robert L. matched it.

It marked the second time in recent memory that a tie would decide the Nerd Herd crown. Thomas G. swapped his clubs for a calculator and used the same formula that settled the previous deadlock. With the numbers crunched, Todd B. took center stage to reveal the result.

Joshua W. still had plenty to celebrate, sweeping the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin contests for one of the standout solo showings of the week.

The Team Behind the Tee Times

A tournament this fun doesn’t happen without a dedicated support crew, and this year’s Nerd Herd had a great one.

Wednesday’s helpers included George R., Thomas G., Rebecca S., and Tatiana S., who kept the drinks flowing and the day on track. Tatiana S. doubled as our official photographer, documenting the action on the course. Meanwhile, Ruth M. and Kevin T. served as the cheering section for every group.

Thursday’s crew of Thomas G., Carmen R., David W., George R., Todd B., and Aaron took care of lunch, tended to the golfers, and helped keep play moving along.

Why the Nerd Herd Matters

Trophies and trash talk are part of the fun, but they’ve never been what the Nerd Herd is really about. The event gives coworkers time away from their screens, a chance to connect outside the office, and an opportunity to build trust that follows them back to work.

Encouraging a teammate through a rough hole makes it that much easier to work through a challenging project side by side. It’s the same collaboration our clients rely on every day, from closing out a support ticket to mapping out their next technology upgrade.

Competitive yet lighthearted, well-run yet relaxed, the Nerd Herd strikes a balance that mirrors who we are as a company.

We’re especially grateful to Eric A., Mike H., and George R. for their ongoing dedication to keeping this tradition going strong. To every golfer, volunteer, organizer, photographer, drink runner, meal coordinator, and supporter on the sidelines: thank you for helping make the 2026 Nerd Herd a huge success.

One more round of applause for John B. and Chris G., the 2026 Nerd Herd Champions. The hardware has been awarded, and the bragging has officially begun.

See you next year, Nerd Herd.
